Mixed Reality / AR / VR

Overview

I have a long history of design and working with mixed reality content across different applications and platforms. This is a few quick looks at projects I have worked on in the space.

Wizarding World of Harry Potter

I served as the Product Design Lead for Wizarding World, a home for all things in the Harry Potter universe. I pitched and prototyped an AR Sorting hat experience that became the main entry-point for the app.

Team brainstorm session in London very early in the process.

Blue Nile Anyring

Blue Nile needed to modernize its e-commerce experience and rebuild trust in buying wedding bands online—all within a two-week sprint. The result was an interactive try-on tool that let users see different diamond shapes and sizes, with real-world measurements matching available inventory.

Prototype in action. The user is able to view real stone sizes and shapes on their own hand to simulate a try-on experience.

Slash screen visual design

I 3D printed rings with various tracking markers in order to reconcile the lack of hand tracking. This could also be a low-cost fit testing for a more comfortable at-home purchasing. Too bad I can't 3D print a nicer-looking hand...

After choosing carat size in AR, the app could link to all available inventory in that size, verifying that your taste and wealth level once again do not agree.

Novartis Kymriah

Novartis Kymriah is a revolutionary treatment for treating certain types of blood cancers. It is an FDA-approved personalized immunotherapy that modifies a patient's own T cells to recognize and attack cancer cells. As design director agency bynd designed user experience for patients and health professionals along the treatment journey.

The treatment required a new cold-chain procedure that required timely and precise coordination. I concepted and prototyped a virtual training simulation using AR technology. This would allow operators to learn in a low risk / low cost environment with feedback.
